As part of a design assignment, I designed a water sports center in the Mosonmagyaróvár area. The center consists of several smaller buildings with different functions: there is a boathouse, a clubhouse, a fitness room, a bistro, a maintenance and repair building, and a changing building with sanitary facilities for bathers. The facility primarily targets active water sports enthusiasts, however, some buildings – like the bistro and the changing rooms on the right side – were specifically designed to meet the needs of beach visitors. During planning, we had to consider the special requirements of the sport and its techniques, which were personally explained to us by local athletes. It was particularly important for me not to design a large, monolithic structure, but rather several smaller buildings to better integrate into the small-town, suburban environment and not disrupt the landscape unity. Due to its proximity to nature, I chose wood as the main facade material, and the supporting structure is also made of wood. The interiors are deliberately kept simple to direct the gaze outwards, into the surrounding landscape.
